Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy
When injury or trauma occurs, your body calls on platelets to repair the area. Platelets, the master healing component of blood, contain growth factors that work to reduce inflammation and repair damage. When this process is disrupted, repair subsides and eventually ceases. Damaged tissues leave you with unresolved inflammation and pain.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) utilizes your own blood’s growth factors to repair damage tissues. PRP Therapy is a brief, uncomplicated, outpatient procedure. A board certified physician will direct the process of a simple blood draw and separation of platelets from other blood components. The physician will then inject your concentrated platelets into the injured area under X-ray or Ultrasound. Repair will begin immediately but it may take up to 6 weeks to feel a reduction in pain.
